Home Field Advantage: Morris, Bloomington Open Divisional Round with Win
|
The Bloomington Blazers started the Divisional Round in style today, downing the visiting South Carolina Bombers at Arson Arena by a score of 8-5 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Blazers third baseman Jack Morris was named player of the game after he was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
Roger Barrett, who is rated as the 3rd best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Bloomington with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Morris. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Arson Arena. Slated to start are Braden Halladay for South Carolina and Pedro Vazquez for Bloomington.
