Road Win Lifts Tunica to 1-0 Lead in R2
The Tunica Diamonds started the Winter League Championship in style today, winning on the road against the Wichita Storm at The Storm Center by a score of 9-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Diamonds right fielder Matt Strickland was named player of the game after he went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs.

Marco Sotelo aided the Tunica cause with a 2-run single in the top of the ninth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-1, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Diamonds manager Kiyomori Shimizu, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in Wichita. The scheduled starters for the game are Danny Suarez for the Tunica Diamonds and Tony Ruiz for the the Wichita Storm.
