Almost There: Normal On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 3-2 Win
The Normal Nutcrackers moved to within one game of the Winter League Championship today, downing the visiting Wichita Storm at The Nutcracker Suite by a score of 3-2. Nutcrackers left fielder Israel Gutierrez was named player of the game after he went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. The win gives the Nutcrackers a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Gutierrez had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the fourth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Nutcrackers went on to win.

Wichita manager Cliff Moon said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.

Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow in Normal. Slated to start are Tony de la Cruz for the Wichita Storm and Ted Mengel for the the Normal Nutcrackers.
