When the stakes were high, Matt Taylor raised his game to match.

The right-handed Taylor turned in a stellar performance in Game 2 of the League Championship Series today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Billings West Golden Bears to victory. He allowed 10 hits and struck out 6. The win gave Billings West a 2-0 lead over the Montreal Cardinals in the best-of-7 series.

Jacob Closson aided the Billings West cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 4.

"I'd like to pitch a complete game every time," said Taylor.

The next game is scheduled for Wednesday at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds in Montreal. The scheduled starters for the game are Josh Sanford for the Billings West Golden Bears and Butch Haynes for the the Montreal Cardinals.
