Buffaloes Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
The ORIX Buffaloes moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Hanshin Tigers on the road at Ballpark of Otofuke College by a score of 8-4. Buffaloes right-hander Hachemon Hitomi was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. The win gives the Buffaloes a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Japan Series Championship.

ORIX right fielder Hyo-chin Suk helped the Buffaloes go up, 4-1, in the top of the third inning. With the game tied, Suk hit a 3-run home run off Hanshin pitcher Mike Hollis.

"We lost," Hanshin manager Bob Edwards said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Ballpark of Otofuke College. The scheduled starters for the game are Shuichiro Otsuka for the ORIX Buffaloes and Santos Restrepo for the the Hanshin Tigers.
