Sycamores, Cardinals Play 11 to Settle Game 3, Indiana State Now Leads Series 2-1
|
Bubba Pell pitched well, but the Stanford Cardinals lost anyway, falling 5-4 in extra innings to the Indiana State Sycamores at Pit Vipers Ballpark. With the win, Indiana State took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 NCAA College World Series. Pell was named player of the game after giving the Cardinals 5 innings and allowing no earned runs.
Jon Kirkendall, who is rated as the 94th best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Indiana State with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the 11th. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 6 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Put a star next to this win," Kirkendall said.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Pit Vipers Ballpark. Slated to start are Tim Evans for the Stanford Cardinals and Dave Michlin for the the Indiana State Sycamores.
