Calvert Handcuffs Cardinals, Panthers Seize 2-1 Advantage in R2
The Pleasantville Panthers got a strong game from starter Edward Calvert, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.

The Panthers took the 4-3 win over the Montreal Cardinals in Game 3 of the Little League World Series in a 10th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Calvert, who was named player of the game. Calvert threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Late-game drama came in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no one out and a runner on 1st, the batter, Tim Hicks, hit a single. It helped Pleasantville seize the win.

"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Pleasantville manager Bobby Lowenstein told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Little League World Series, it's only going to get harder."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Pleasantville. Slated to start are Pat Hamilton for the Montreal Cardinals and Sean Harris for the the Pleasantville Panthers.
