Pope Excels in Scottsdale Win
|
The Scottsdale Scorpions and Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas completed their game despite the inclement weather.
The Scottsdale Scorpions beat the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 5-2, at Scottsdale Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Bryce Pope, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Scottsdale, now 2-3, is off to a slow start.
With Scottsdale leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Pope hit a screwball from Lazaro Flores for a 2-run single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Scorpions ahead, 4-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Pope told a Scottsdale Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
