Pioneers Turn Back Cabo San Lucas, 6-4
|
The Vancouver Pioneers downed the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 6-4, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. The Pioneers were led by Yoshiro Allen, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Vancouver starter Tony Velázquez was credited with the win after throwing 90 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 6-5. Tomoyuki Kiyomizu notched his 2nd save in 2 chances.
Allen came through with some timely hitting for Vancouver. With the score 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth and no one down, Allen hit a 1-0 slider for a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season made it 6-4, Vancouver.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Vancouver manager Dorian McNeal.
Vancouver now has a 3-game win streak.
