The Bloomington Blazers beat the San Francisco Earthquakes, 5-4, at Arson Arena. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Jack Morris, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Bloomington reliever Greg Rojas picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Zak Osborn shouldered the loss. The second-place Blazers have won 5 in a row.
Morris had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Zak Osborn, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Blazers a 5-4 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Morris.
"We squandered some opportunities," said San Francisco manager Joe Ward.
