Mudigonda scores 3 runs, Pioneers Move to 6-4
|
The Vancouver Pioneers beat the Bloomington Blazers, 9-6, at Arson Arena. The Pioneers got a fine performance from third baseman Ashis Mudigonda, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Humberto Saucedo picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 2-0. Munemori Abe closed the door for Vancouver, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Mudigonda had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Tony Gutierrez, he banged a 2-run double to center, giving the Pioneers a 7-5 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Mudigonda.
Mudigonda told a Vancouver Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Vancouver, now 6-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
