The inspired effort of Canby center fielder Frank Keddy was not enough to prevent a 4-3 loss to the Montreal Cardinals. Keddy was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. Montreal reliever Kevin Williams picked up the win, upping his record to 1-4. Chad Kula absorbed the loss. George Robison notched his 13th save in 15 chances.
Ben Jessee made it 4-3 in favor of Montreal when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with one out in the top of the tenth. The Cardinals went on to win.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Jessee. "Just do my job."
Montreal improves to 41-24 with the win. They lead their division by 7 games.
