Chargers Score Late to Upend Cardinals, 3-2
|
The Montreal Cardinals got a sterling performance from pitcher Allen Neil, but the Chargers still prevailed, 3-2. Neil was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Andrew Morris was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 21 save opportunities. The Chargers improved to 30-33.
Matt Bengston drew 1 walk against the Cardinals. In the top of the first inning, he reached on an error by the C, driving in 1 run, putting Topeka West in front, 1-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Montreal skipper Hector Corretjer, "and it cost us."
