Beavers Fall to Bian, Hops
|
The San Diego Hops and Portland Beavers completed their game despite the rain.
The San Diego Hops beat the Portland Beavers, 8-1, at Waterfront Park. The Hops got a fine performance from third baseman An-yi Bian, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Losses have been few and far between for the Beavers so far this season. Their record drops to 6-3.
Akira Kato drove in one run for San Diego. The 11-year veteran had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Hajime Ota. It was his 5th RBI of the season.
Bian told a San Diego Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
