The Grand Island Islanders and San Marin Mustangs provided some drama at Ballpark of Morelia HS.

The San Marin Mustangs eked out a 6-5 win versus the Grand Island Islanders at Ballpark of Morelia HS. Nobody did more than designated hitter David Carnes, who captured player of the game honors. Jimmy Mandler earned the win to go to 1-3. He allowed 4 earned runs on 10 hits, with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts.

With San Marin trailing 4-2 in the top of the fifth, Carnes hit a fastball from Chris Granata for a run-scoring double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Mustangs ahead, 4-3.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Carnes told the San Marin Chronicle.

The 4th-place Islanders have lost 4 consecutive games.
