Lions Sneak Past Chargers, 13-12
Topeka West got a terrific performance from third baseman Brian Roach, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lerna Lions. Lerna won the Ballpark of Ecatepec HS contest, 13-12. Roach was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. He scored 4 times and drove in 4. Lerna reliever Jeff Roe picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Bob Kelly took the loss. The win puts the Lions at 26-32, while the Chargers drop to 26-32.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the tenth. With Lerna trailing 12-11, J.R. Lovitt hit a changeup from Bob Kelly to left for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Lions had a walk-off win.

Lovitt told the Lerna News: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
