Golden Bears Raise Rally Flag, Beat George Washington, 6-5
|
The Billings West Golden Bears beat the George Washington Patriots, 6-5 at Osprey Ballpark, in part due to shortstop Jacob Closson, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nick Krueger converted his 15th save in 16 tries. The Golden Bears bumped their record to 34-21 with this latest triumph.
The Golden Bears got a big at-bat from left fielder Jeff Houston. For the game, Houston went 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Billings West a 6-4 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Closson said.
