The Grand Island Islanders dealt the Pitman High Panthers a 6-4 loss at Ballpark of Morelia HS. Kevin McCarthy was the star on offense. He went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. The win was Tom Dorsey's in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Travis McIntier took the loss for Pitman High. The Islanders bumped their record to 30-24 with this latest triumph.

Nick Mefford drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate for Grand Island. The 15-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Fernando Ramos. It was his 34th RBI of the season.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Mefford. "And not try to do too much."
