Patriots Clip Chargers in Tight Contest
George Washington rode a decent outing from starter John Kelley to victory over the Topeka West Chargers at Osprey Ballpark. The final score was 5-4. The win was Eric Shaner's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Caleb Caddell took the loss for Topeka West. David Walker, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

Ben Jacobsen went 1-1 with a double for George Washington. The 18-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Matt Ratliff. It was his 9th RBI of the season.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Topeka West manager Jack Fannon.

The Patriots bumped their record to 28-26 with this latest triumph.
