Mustangs Turn Back Quebec, 3-2
|
The Mile High Mustangs eked out a 3-2 win versus the Quebec Armada at McNichols Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Ross Allan, who captured player of the game honors. Allan, now 7-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Quan Que notched his 18th save in 20 chances.
The Mustangs got a big at-bat from catcher Harley Ware. For the game, Ware went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Mile High a 2-0 lead.
Ware called the win "a collective effort."
Mile High's record now stands at 42-43, placing them second in the Thurman Munson League Sparky Anderson Division.
