Cardinals Win at Jacksonville State, 7-3
|
The 2034 season is getting ugly for Jacksonville State.
Kearny High center fielder Scott Zappa was instrumental in his team's 7-3 win over the Jacksonville State Jaguars. Zappa, who is tied for 6th in the HAL in stolen bases with 8, went 3-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cardinals. Matt Marsh picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-1. He struck out 5 in 5.1 innings.
Travis Duchesneau, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Cardinals organization, chipped in for Kearny High with a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Zappa told reporters after the game.
Kearny High has now won 4 in a row.
