Tigers Win at Montreal, 8-5
|
Montreal first baseman Adam Clifton was sensational. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Tioga Central beat the Cardinals, 8-5. Clifton was named the player of the game despite the loss. The winner was Ted Mengel, who threw 114 pitches over 6.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 5 runs on 11 hits. Ricky Hartman closed the door for Tioga Central, picking up his 7th save of the year.
Pete Valley, who is tied for 8th in the PRL with a .465 on-base percentage, aided the Tioga Central cause with a 2-run single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1 for 1. He drove in 2 runs.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Tioga Central manager Gabriel McKinnes.
Tioga Central has now won 3 in a row.
