Wine Connoisseur Berroa Purchases Vineyard, Plans to Open Winery
Friday, November 18th, 2033
Blazers closer Paco Berroa has long considered himself a wine aficionado. Last month, however, he took his love to a whole new level by purchasing a 30-acre vineyard in Northern California.
"It's always been a dream of mine to own a vineyard," said Berroa. "This just seemed like the perfect time. When the opportunity arose, I jumped all over it."
The site, covering a rolling meadow an hour northeast of Sonoma, contains a building Berroa plans to open to the public as a winery next year, as well as a two-story house that may eventually be converted to a bed and breakfast.
"I have no delusions about this becoming a second career for me," said Berroa. "Right now, it's just a hobby. When I retire, though... who knows? I think I could get used to spending most of my time here."
