Baba Sensational, 5-for-5 Saturday, September 24th, 2033 A jubilant Motoyasu Baba joined the postgame press conference at The Brew Stade today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the San Diego Hops pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Portland Beavers right fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Beavers to a 12-2 win. "He made it look easy," said Randy England, manager of the Hops. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Motoyasu Baba hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Naomi Kobayashi in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Juan Vázquez in the 9th.
