Maple-Jacksonville Deal: Kogawa for Vázquez Friday, July 29th, 2033 It took some time to iron out the details, but the Marauders and Jacks have agreed to a swap. Jacksonville will get 34-year-old 1B Tokutomi Kogawa, 35-year-old minor league RHP Bryce Hesketh, 17-year-old minor league RHP Antonio Alcivar, 21-year-old minor league RHP Dale Loder and 22-year-old minor league C Manolo González with Maple receiving 34-year-old C Ángel Vázquez and $2,276,500 in cash in return. A source close to the trade talks said the two clubs were initially looking to make a bigger deal, but discussions broke off late last night. The two sides reconvened early today and eventually settled on this deal. Kogawa is batting at a .277 pace this season, picking up 70 hits in 253 at-bats with 12 home runs, 51 RBIs and 40 runs scored. This year Vázquez has hit 11 home runs and posted a .306 batting average. |
