Vela Gone for Season in San Diego
Saturday, May 7th, 2033
The season is finished for Gerardo Vela of the San Diego Hops. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Hops starting pitcher suffered a damaged elbow ligament while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the So Cal Republic. Team doctors said it would take at least 9-10 months to heal.

This season Vela has a 0-2 mark in 5 starts with a 5.19 ERA. He has given up 31 hits in 26 innings, struck out 16 and issued 8 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .304 batting average against him.
