Blazers End Trujillo's Streak
Thursday, April 28th, 2033
Javier Trujillo came rolling into today's game against the Bloomington Blazers with a 22-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at Skellington Stadium.
The 23-year-old Jacksonville Jacks shortstop went 0-for-5 against the Blazers as the Jacks fell, 6-3.
"I swung at a couple pitches I probably shouldn't have and I didn't swing at a couple I probably should have," he said, grimacing. "But that's what makes a hit streak so impressive in the first place -- it only takes a couple mistakes to end it all."
Looking at his present stats, Trujillo has compiled a .342 batting average in 27 games with a .407 on-base percentage, while hitting no home runs and driving in 8 runs.
