League Suspends Rodríguez and Hanson for Brawl Thursday, April 21st, 2033 Sometimes on the baseball diamond disparaging words are uttered in anger and lead to more than what the players bargained for. That's what happened at yesterday's Columbus Aces-Rubber City Rhinos game at Central Park Downtown Stadium. What started off as a war of words ended up a tag team match as both clubs rushed on the field to defend their honor. When the umpires sorted it all out, they ejected Columbus's Jorge Rodríguez and Rubber City's Tom Hanson from the game for their roles in starting the melee. Today the players were notified by the league office that they had been suspended 2 games for violating league rules. Rodríguez is batting at a .196 pace this season, picking up 9 hits in 46 at-bats with 2 home runs, 2 RBIs and 5 runs scored. Season-to-date Hanson has rung up 2 wins and 1 loss in 5 appearances. He has an ERA of 3.66 and has fanned 31 batters in 32 innings. |
