Panthers Win in Glorious Fashion
|
Francis Lewis got a terrific performance from pitcher Katsutoshi Kawano, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pitman High Panthers. Pitman High won the Batfish Ballpark contest, 3-2. Kawano was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Pitman High reliever Adam Diedrick picked up the win to move to 1-2. Tommy Burhoe suffered the loss. Pitman High is in 4th place in the Hank Aaron League Bob Gibson Division with a record of 19-22.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Pitman High trailing 2-1, Kyle Sullivan hit a changeup from Tommy Burhoe to right for a 2-run double. Just like that, the Panthers had a walk-off win.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Sullivan told the Pitman High Daily News.
