Vampires Walk Off with Win
Downsview got a terrific performance from pitcher Josh Cargill, but it wasn't enough to beat the Santa Clara Vampires. Santa Clara won the River Otters Ballpark contest, 6-5. Cargill was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Ryan Ballard, credited with the win, is now 2-4. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The last-place Vampires have won 4 in a row.

Santa Clara won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With no outs and Jim Hitt on the mound for Downsview, right fielder Logan Grim hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Vampires fans to their feet.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Grim.
