Indians, Hoffmann Pin Bad Loss on Poly

The Jefferson Indians beat the Riverside Poly, 16-1, at Apollos Ballpark. Aaron Hoffmann was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. The 18-year old shortstop was a menace to Riverside all day. The win was Richard Pupo's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Chris Phillips took the loss for Riverside. Jefferson is now 24-13, 3 games up in the Hank Aaron League Willie Mays Division.
Jefferson used the bat of Chris Nutting to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Indians ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Hoffmann said. "We did a good job of that today."
