Patriots Get Past Canby for 2-1 Win
|
The Francis Lewis Patriots picked up a win at Ottawa HS Grounds, knocking off the Canby Lancers, 2-1. Starting pitcher Aaron Coltrin was an essential part of his team's success. Francis Lewis reliever David Belke was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Jim Casey took the loss. Tommy Burhoe closed the game out for Francis Lewis, earning his 9th save.
Had Billy O'Brien not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, O'Brien hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Patriots.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Coltrin.
The Patriots bumped their record to 21-14 with this latest triumph.
