Tigers Edge Past Lions, 6-5
|
The Tioga Central Tigers picked up a win at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS, knocking off the Lerna Lions, 6-5. Starting pitcher Pat Bonham was an essential part of his team's success. Bonham went 11 innings to notch the win. He scattered 11 hits, walked 1, and struck out 14. His record improves to 5-1. The Lions, at 12-21, have lost 4 straight games.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from right fielder Mike Brandenburg. For the game, Brandenburg was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs. In the top of the 11th, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 41st hit of the season gave Tioga Central a 6-5 lead.
