Canby Makes It 6 Straight with 8-4 Win
|
The Canby Lancers defeated the George Washington Patriots, 8-4, in Pete Rose League action at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS, with Canby pitcher David Owens named player of the game. Canby reliever Larry Brunson got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Jason Flesher was tagged with the loss. The current losing streak for George Washington has reached 7 games.
Had Bobby Croy not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Croy hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 7-4, in favor of the Lancers.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Owens.
