Mustangs Get Past Francis Lewis for 7-6 Win
|
The Downsview Mustangs defeated the Francis Lewis Patriots, 7-6. Earning player of the game honors was shortstop Ross Centner, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win was Ben Olheiser's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Mark Dowell took the loss for Francis Lewis. At 13-18, the Mustangs are currently third in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division.
Had Karl Holman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Holman hit a 2-run double. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Mustangs.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Holman told the Downsview News. "It's as simple as that."
