Despite a great performance by Tohoku Rakuten right fielder Kanbu Kobayashi, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters defeated the Golden Eagles by the score of 6-5 at Sailboats Ballpark. Kobayashi went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Hokkaido Nippon-Ham reliever Yusuke Yamasaki picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mike Craft absorbed the loss. The Golden Eagles, now 2-10, continue their slow start.

Yoshitomo Noda, who is tied for 5th in the PL in triples with 1, aided the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham cause with a solo home run in the top of the seventh. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 5 with a home run.

Noda told the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Citizen: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
