The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks overcame a good performance by Hokkaido Nippon-Ham third baseman Zhong-shu Chuang to knock off Hokkaido Nippon-Ham, 11-8, at Ballpark of Aomori College. Chuang was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6. Jae-hyung Cho, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings. At 5-2, the Hawks have played well so far.
Kaiji Nagata hit a 2-run double off Wei-sng Mak in the bottom of the first, which put the Hawks in front, 2-0. In addition to the double, Nagata had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Vincent Crockett said.
