Brian Schaefer did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Tokyo Yakult Swallows from losing, 5-3, to the Chunichi Dragons at Ballpark of Nakashibetsu College. Schaefer was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. Chunichi reliever Yuji Ito was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Noboru Abe. Josh Jackson earned his 1st save in 1 tries.

Kol-in-sen Koo, who is considered the best prospect in baseball by BNN, aided the Chunichi cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk.

In postgame comments to the Chunichi Today, Koo said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Chunichi, now 2-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
