The Chunichi Dragons opened their 2033 season with a triumph over the Tokyo Yakult Swallows at Ballpark of Nakashibetsu College. The final score was 15-2. Chunichi third baseman Toshimitsu Epps had a big game. He went 3-5 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 4 times and driving in 4. The win was credited to Ed Purdy in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Hidenori Tomita took the loss.

Danny Dunlap, who is rated as the 45th best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Chunichi with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
