Giants Win at Yokohama, 7-4
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Yokohama Bay Stars were eager to watch Yoshiyuki Matsuda square off against Gavin Taylor of the visiting Yomiuri Giants. In the end, the Giants won the game, 7-4, with Gavin Taylor earning player of the game honors.
The Giants got a big at-bat from second baseman Hiroyoshi Kato. For the game, Kato went 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 2nd hit of the season gave Yomiuri a 3-2 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Kato told the Yomiuri Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
