Hawks Stymie Saitama Seibu, Take 1-0 Win
|
The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks satisfied the home crowd at Ballpark of Aomori College, treating them to a season-opening win, 1-0, over the Saitama Seibu Lions. Starting Pitcher Ming Lai was named player of the game for Fukuoka SoftBank. Fukuoka SoftBank reliever Zai-shuo Qu picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Eishi Hirayama absorbed the loss. Tatsuro Tanaka nailed down his 1st save.
Feng-yi Man drew 1 walk for Fukuoka SoftBank. The 20-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Matt Todd. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Man.
