The South Carolina Bombers racked up a win at Bomber Ballpark, bumping off the Portland Beavers, 5-2. Carl Cozens, who started for South Carolina, pitched effectively for his team. In 8 innings, Cozens surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. The Bombers bumped their record to 47-33 with this latest triumph.
Zhao-ying Gai, who is tied for 2nd in the TML in total bases with 165, aided the South Carolina cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4 with a double.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Gai, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
