Pioneers Get Past Seattle for 2-1 Win
|
Despite the rain, the fans at "The Fort" at B.C. Place enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Vancouver Pioneers topped the Seattle Sasquatch by the score of 2-1, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Ashis Mudigonda. Mudigonda went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Pioneers on the day. Vancouver has now won 3 straight, while the Sasquatch have lost 3 in a row.
Mudigonda had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a first pitch changeup from Jun Nakayama, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Pioneers a 2-1 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Mudigonda.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Mudigonda, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
