Patriots Score Late to Upend Chargers, 2-1
|
Pat Knecht could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Topeka West Chargers lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Francis Lewis Patriots at Ottawa HS Grounds. Tommy Burhoe, credited with the win, is now 4-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. Francis Lewis is now 16-9, 5½ games up in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division.
Rene Hernandez was the walk-off hero for Francis Lewis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Patriots center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place sure got loud," said Justin Easton, the Francis Lewis manager.
