Fans at River Otters Ballpark were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Santa Clara Vampires take on the Tioga Central Tigers.

The Tioga Central Tigers dealt the Santa Clara Vampires a 8-5 loss at River Otters Ballpark. Earl Birch was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ranger Elliott, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-1. Daniel Wilson picked up the save for Tioga Central, his 2nd of the year.

Kelan Gosse aided the Tioga Central cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder was 1 for 4 with a double and a walk.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Birch said.

The Vampires have now dropped 5 straight.
