South Carolina Bombers starter Ange Schmit was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Portland Beavers, 3-2. Schmit went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 14. His record improves to 9-6. Ed Armstrong converted his 11th save in 12 tries.

The Bombers got a big at-bat from left fielder Kiyonobu Yamasaki. For the game, Yamasaki was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave South Carolina a 3-0 lead.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said South Carolina skipper Randy Huggett.
