Taylor goes 3-for-5 in Aces Win
|
The Columbus Aces beat the Georgia Grays, 8-3, at The Death Star. Joe Taylor was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The 23-year old right fielder was a menace to Georgia all day. David Flecha, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 5-9. At 27-49, the Aces are currently 5th in the Roberto Clemente League William Atteberry Division.
Taylor contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Columbus in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Taylor took a fastball from Felipe Marés and stroked the home run to left-center. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Aces to leap in front, 3-1.
"We played hard and won," said Taylor. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
