Norris Helps George Washington Cruise to 12-3 Win
|
With center fielder Craig Norris leading the charge, the George Washington Patriots defeated the Billings West Golden Bears, 12-3, at Osprey Ballpark. Norris, who is tied for 3rd in the PRL in stolen bases with 5, was 3-3 with 3 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. George Washington starter Craig Mahoney was credited with the win after throwing 121 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Even with the win, the Patriots have a dismal 7-17 record.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the bottom of the third inning. That's when right fielder Frank Cassell, who is tied for 9th in the PRL in doubles with 8, drew a walk. The Patriots went on to win.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Norris. "And not try to do too much."
