The skies opened up and the rain fell at Chickenhawks Stadium.

Jacksonville State Jaguars starter Mark Sparling turned in a top-notch performance against the Montreal Cardinals at Chickenhawks Stadium. The result was a win for the Jaguars, 4-2. The 4th-place Jaguars improved to 7-12.

A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Jaguars sent teenager Erik Zacharias to the plate against Cardinals hurler Joe Crouch. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 2-2 circle change to score 2.

"We had a good game plan," Sparling said, "and we were able to execute it."
