Cardinals Solve Islanders, 6-5
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Montreal Cardinals eventually prevailed at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds.
Grand Island first baseman David Otterstrom was sensational. He went 1-4 with a double and a walk, while adding 4 RBI, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Montreal beat the Islanders, 6-5. Otterstrom was named the player of the game despite the loss. John Friesen earned the save for Montreal, his 1st.
Jim Goudeau aided the Montreal cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Goudeau. "And not try to do too much."
The Cardinals have an impressive 14-4 record.
